Free Overnight Camp Sites

Finding places to park overnight can be challenging and trying to find FREE places can make it a little more tricky! Here are all of the places we have stayed overnight in the van with a short description and coordinates.  This map is continually updated each time we stay somewhere new! Hopefully this helps you find some places to stay and enjoy a good nights sleep no matter if it's a beautiful BLM spot or a Walmart parking lot!

Where Do You Stay Overnight?

Here are some of our top places to stay. Keep in mind some areas have different rules regarding overnight parking so make sure to check with the exact location you are staying at.

  • BLM land (free camping allowed for up to 14 days)
  • Rest stops
  • Cracker Barrel
  • Truck stops (such as Flying J or Pilot Travel Centers)
  • Walmart

How Do You Find Free Overnight Camp Sites?

We use the app iOverlander to find places to stay overnight. It's free to download and you can also use it offline if you don't have great service.

Places are categorized by type of place such as campsite, informal campsite, and wild camping. You can also filter for things such as water, dump site, gas, and so much more. It is so helpful in not only finding free overnight camp sites but also places to fill up on fresh water and dump our grey water!
